Publication Ethics and Statement of Publication Malpractice

The ethics statement of Journal of Clinical and Biomedical Sciences (JCBS) are based on best practice guidelines of Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and Code of Conduct for Journal Publishers (http://publicationethics.org). The editors, reviewers and authors are expected to follow the ethical behaviours described in these guidelines.


Responsibilities of the Publisher

The executive editors and the editor shall decide on the articles to be published. The editorial board shall guide in decision making. Decisions to publish shall take into consideration plagiarism. The publisher shall not discriminate the manuscript based on religion, gender, ethnicity and citizenship of authors. Confidentiality of the authors shall be maintained by the reviewers not disclosing the identity to any one during the process. Any unpublished material disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in the editors/ publishers own research without the written consent of the author.


Responsibilities of Reviewers

Peer reviewing process shall be in place to assist the editor in decision making to select articles for publication. The referee shall give the result as accept, accept with revision or reject. If the selected referee feels unqualified for reviewing the manuscript he/she should inform the publisher and reject the work. The referee shall keep the manuscripts content and the review process confidential. The referee shall review objectively and not personally criticize the author. The referee shall identify the relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. The referee shall bring to the notice of the editor of any similarity/overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published article. Any unpublished material disclosed in the submitted manuscript should not be used in the reviewers own research without the written consent of the author. The reviewer shall not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest.


Responsibilities of Authors

The papers submitted by authors should not have been published previously elsewhere or currently being considered for publication. The manuscript should contain detailed information so that the research work could be reproduced elsewhere. Fraudulent statements are unethical and not acceptable. Usage of scientific work of others/or words of other publications should be cited. Plagiarism is unethical and such publications will not be considered for JCBS. The authors must acknowledge the work of others who have contributed to the research. The authorship should ideally be restricted to the persons making significant contributions to conception, design, execution and interpretation. Those who have participated in substantiative aspects of the research could be acknowledged. The author must disclose in their manuscript any hazards involved it the research process. The authors mush disclose in the manuscript the financial interests, conflicts and support received. Any significant error discovered in the published work by the authors should be notified to the editor/publisher and retracted/corrected promptly.
